Apnix Announces New Services for Houston Sleep Apnea Sufferers
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) April 22, 2014
Apnix Sleep Diagnostics provides Houston-area sleep sufferers relief through the diagnosis of sleep disorders, with several centers based in the Houston area accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Apnix announces new services which offer an effective, safe way to diagnose sleep apnea; a condition that affects 18 million American adults.
Obstructive sleep apnea is a disorder characterized by one or more pauses in breathing during sleep that last a few seconds up to a minute and beyond. This can happen up to 30 times in just one hour. Often times, the sufferer has no idea they are doing this. It’s important to get a proper diagnosis to effectively treat sleep apnea. If left unchecked, sleep apnea can lead to extreme fatigue in the daytime, headaches, attention and memory problems, and dry or sore throat in the mornings. It may also have serious health repercussions, such as depression, high blood pressure, stroke, heart failure and diabetes.
Upon recommendation from their doctor, patients can choose to take part in a sleep study at Houston’s own Apnix, where they’ll be taken care of by experienced, registered technicians. With nine locations in the Houston area to choose from, Apnix offers end-to-end guidance, which means they help patients from initial testing right on through regular follow-ups.
Sleep studies are performed overnight, with appointments available every day of the week. After documenting a patient’s mental, physical and medical history, technicians hook patients up to monitors to record and observe their sleep patterns. Some of the tests conducted include Polysomnography, Multiple Sleep Latency Test, Diagnostics, CPAP Titration Study and Bi-Level Titration Study. Patients can go home in the morning and test results are delivered to their doctor, who can work with the center to provide ongoing treatment. In addition to sleep studies, Apnix also offers ongoing CPAP treatment that includes support, education and guidance; care and training; follow-up with a therapist; re-evaluations of sleep disorders; and supply replacement reminders.
