Aviisha Opens Sleep Apnea Webinars to the Public
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) October 11, 2011
Aviisha Medical Institute, LLC, the national leader in home sleep care, is inviting the public to attend its obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) webinars. The webinars are broadcasted live on the first Monday of every month at 1pm PST. They webinars are hosted by Dr. Avi Ishaaya and cover a broad range of topics related to sleep apnea. Dr. Avi is a board-certified pulmonologist who specializes in treating sleep disorders. He is the one of nation’s foremost experts on sleep issues and has been featured in Newsweek and the Wall Street Journal.
The webinars were originally designed for physicians in Aviisha’s MD Home Sleep Program (http://www.aviisha.com/mdhsp), but interest and demand have changed that. “The webinars are a great way for all people to learn about sleep apnea,” said Dr. Avi. “Sleep apnea carries serious consequences for sufferers as well as their partners. Its prevalence is rising dramatically yet only 10-20% of sufferers are diagnosed. We hope that opening these webinars to the public can help raise awareness.”
Raising awareness is a top priority for Aviisha. Between 1 and every 5 to 15 people are affected by sleep apnea and the number is expected to increase. Some of the main signs of sleep apnea are loud snoring, daytime sleepiness, and frequent pauses in breathing during sleep. “People with sleep apnea will literally stop breathing in their sleep, generally for 20-40 seconds at a time. Before that, their snoring will get louder and louder as the airway gets narrower,” explained Dr. Avi. Since men are at higher risk for sleep apnea than women, wives with snoring husbands are in a key position to detect sleep apnea and discuss it with their partners.
The educational webinars cover a range of topics related to sleep apnea and are suitable for people interested in health, people who snore or know someone who snores, patients receiving treatment, physicians and clinicians, and teachers. Some of the topics include: signs and symptoms, risk factors, health consequences, home sleep testing, treatment, CPAP adherence, and more. The webinars last between 20 and 30 minutes and conclude with a brief Q&A session.
The next webinar is scheduled for November 7, 2011 at 1pm Pacific Standard Time. You can access the webinar by going to http://connectpro18419703.adobeconnect.com/webinar and selecting “enter as guest.” There is no fee to attend the webinar. A complete schedule can be accessed by going to http://www.aviisha.com/webinars. Updates can also be found at Aviisha’s twitter (@aviisha) and facebook pages.
