NFL Legends Mike Haynes, Roy Green, Dermontti Dawson And Marcus Allen Embark On A Mission To Boost Awareness Of Sleep Apnea With Pro Player Health Alliance Tomorrow
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) May 20, 2013
David Gergen, President of Pro Player Health Alliance (PPHA) and owner of Gergen’s Orthodontic Lab, took a bold risk by creating a new interesting way to raise awareness of the deadly disorder, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). PPHA teams up with medical experts and players across the country by hosting free events intended to educate the public on diagnosis, treatment and harmful effects of not being treated.
After treating over 150 NFL greats, PPHA teaming up with the likes of Derek Kennard, Mike Haynes, Tony Dorsett, Warren Moon, Erik Dickerson, Marcus Allen, Dermontti Dawson, Roy Green, Mark Walczak, Larry Fitzgerald and Carl Eller to speak with fans who suffer with snoring and sleep apnea has quickly become a topic worth talking about. Creating Pro Player Health Alliance has brought a new wave of awareness to the public by NFL greats sharing personal struggles, experiences and losses with sleep apnea.
Tomorrow’s free PPHA event will specifically have the likes of Mike Haynes, Roy Green, Dermontti Dawson and Marcus Allen among many other NFL greats to share stories of their encounters with sleep apnea. Roy Green has had two heart attacks and two strokes while Mike Haynes, national spokesman for prostate cancer, will be sharing how sleep apnea and cancer is linked as well as an alternative treatment to CPAP. This is the first time ever that such a team has come together on the same team to “Tackle Sleep Apnea”.
Pro Player Health Alliance events gather up to 500 people that are diagnosed and undiagnosed with sleep apnea. A majority of attendees report snoring, morning headaches, daytime fatigue, irritability, high blood pressure, hypertension and diabetes. These are all serious health issues that are linked to sleep apnea. The next event tomorrow will be hosted by Dr. Bradley Eli, who has personally treated five former NFL players already including Mike Haynes. The players say, “He is the guy to go to for sleep apnea.” Registration or this event can be found at http://pphasandiego.eventbrite.com/.
