OSA University Launches CPAP – Awareness Webinar Series

Dentists understanding CPAP therapy may not be on the top on anyone’s critical and news-breaking list. However, there’s a real need, according to OSA University, who is hosting a one-hour webinar on CPAP Awareness on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. CDT.

OSA University Founder, Elias Kalantzis, stated, “More and more dentists are getting involved in administering oral appliance therapy as a treatment option for sleep apnea and optimized airway health — and it’s a great service to patients. However, dentists and their teams aren’t always aware of how a CPAP really works, when it’s best for patients and what it really means to be CPAP intolerant.”

Dr. John Tucker, a speaker and expert in the dental sleep medicine field, added, “I’m happy to see OSA-U share information to the industry on CPAP awareness because it’s well needed. For dentists, understanding the fundamentals of CPAP therapy enables to hold comprehensive discussions with partnering physicians regarding sleep apnea treatment options. It’s critical to being able to work collaboratively with local physicians for the best patient care protocol.”

The webinar information will be led by Robert Suter, formerly of ResMed. Rob has over 10 years of sleep respiratory experience. Rob said, “CPAP knowledge and appreciation can fuel the conversation of what happens next, to the patients that reject CPAP treatment. Additionally, gaining an understanding of CPAP non-compliant patients leverages an entry point into a discussion of the country’s sky-high rate of untreated sleep apnea and airway sufferers.”

Serving the dental sleep medicine community, OSA University is thrilled to offer a two-part CPAP education webinar series for dentists and dental team members. OSA-U’s V.P. of Sales, Rob Suter, will be leading the webinar presentations. Rob has clinically trained hundreds of RRTs and RPSGTs on CPAP devices, algorithms, and sleep lab titrations.

After the completion of the first webinar, CPAP101, dentists will have gained basic knowledge of CPAP and mask therapy. The OSA-U goal is to help dentists better understand CPAP patients and CPAP providers so that more patients are treated. After the second webinar, Working with the Sleep Channel, dentists will have a stronger understanding of what DME’s, sleep labs and physicians do with CPAP patients. Tips and tactics for how dentists can rescue more CPAP refusing patients will be presented. One C.E. credit will be granted per webinar attendee. One CE credit will be awarded per webinar. A $ 50 donation (optional) is suggested for each webinar. 100% of the donations will benefit The Foundation for Airway Health.
