Quietsleep and Snoring Isn’t Sexy Announce Merger

Dentistry’s role in the recognition and management of snoring and sleep apnea is largely unknown by the public despite the fact that oral appliance therapy has been approved as first-line therapy for mild to moderate sleep apnea and in cases where the patient cannot tolerate or prefers not to utilize a medically prescribed CPAP device.
Quietsleep.com was established in 1996 in Boston as a web site for the dental sleep medicine practice of Dr. Laurence Barsh. Several years later the direction of the site was changed to become the first online directory for dentists who offered oral appliance therapy for snoring and sleep apnea.
In July, 1998, SnoringIsntSexy.com was launched to actively engage those who snore in order to educate the public about the relationship of snoring to obstructive sleep apnea, a serious medical condition in which breathing stops during sleep and dentistry’s role in the management of this medical problem.
Both SnoringIsntSexy.com and Quietsleep.com ran parallel courses until the present time representing specially educated dentists who provide oral appliance therapy for snoring and sleep apnea.
